HEIMO AGA

Heimo Aga is an Austrian filmmaker and photojournalist based in Vienna, working for magazines, commercial clients and on movie projects, worldwide—usually in cooperation with his partner and wife, renowned author and journalist Nicole Schmidt. Their documentary movie “HOT!—Hooked on Chili“ has won the BKKDOC Award for Best Food Documentary, amongst others.

As a photojournalist, he has covered conflicts and news from the unrest in South Korea to the 1989 revolutions in the former East Bloc countries, the Fall of the Berlin Wall  and the breakup of Yugoslavia for clients like New York Times Magazine, profil, TIME and Newsweek. Later, he turned his interest towards features and long-term projects in the fields of Art, Environment, Food and Travel, published in À la Carte, GEO, abenteuer & reisen, DIE ZEIT and many other magazines. Most notably, he was aboard the first commercial flight of the Airbus A380. Last not least, he published books about Luxury Trains, River Cruises and Clipper Cruises, mostly together with Nicole Schmidt. Their book Teigtaschen (Dumplings) won the prestigious ITB Book Award for "Best Travel Cookbook”.
